Year 1 Marwell Zoo

Year 1 recently visited Marwell Zoo. Our trip got off to an excellent start with the penguins swimming right up to the window to greet us. They showed us what great swimmers they were.

Off to the giraffes, who were busy munching on their elevenses.
Just before lunch we had a workshop overlooking the rhinos. It was really interesting to find out more about animal families. We were also shown a selection of animal skulls - the crocodile skull showed us how it can peep above the water as its eyes are near the top of its head.

At lunch time the huge, heavy rhinos watched us eat our sandwiches. More animals during the afternoon, including a visit to the tropical house where we saw birds and a tortoise - the sloth was no where to be seen though.

The highlight of our afternoon was to see the snow leopard - it was very exciting.
