Year 4 - News
On Thursday 13th March the children took part in outdoor learning day. We started the day with some fun activities on the field, followed by us creating a bubble mixture and bubble wands from scratch. Due to it being science week it was fun to look at how the components that we added together mixed and allowed us to create some big, holdable bubbles. The children had lots of fun with this!
Computing
This half term Year 4 are moving on to create their first game in Scratch called Boat Race. The aim of the game is to help a small boat navigate a maze by following the mouse pointer to reach the island in the fastest time. There are speed boosters and obstacles to navigate. They will be introduced to the concept of selection using IF statements so that if the boat hits the walls of the maze the boat will appear to crash and break up and then respawn at the start.
They will also be introduced to the concept of using variables to keep track of the number of lives left to complete the game and a timer so they can compete against each other. Testing and debugging their code will also be really important so that they can make sure their games work as intended.
