Lightwater Village School - One School, One Community, Two sites
Lightwater Village School: one school, one community, two sites
We are delighted to announce that, from September 2025, Lightwater Village School and Hammond Junior School will be renamed Lightwater Village School: a village school serving the community of Lightwater from two locations. The ‘renaming’ of the school is the culmination of a careful integration process between Lightwater Village School and Hammond Junior School, which started earlier this year under the leadership of Headteacher Francesca Hooker. The integration between the two schools aims to provide a continuous and consistent education journey for our pupils, ensuring stronger learning pathways and support for each child, at each stage of their learning journey.
The new name was chosen in consultation with parents and teachers, with a nod to history: Lightwater Village School was originally the primary school for the village, Hammond Junior School was created at a later stage to provide additional capacity. The consultation team felt that the school’s history should be reflected in the name. The school will continue to operate on two sites, which will be named Lightwater Village Infant School and Nursery and Lightwater Village Junior School (previously Hammond Junior School).
To help us on our transition towards becoming a single school, we are currently finalising the uniform arrangements, communications plan and pupil, parent and staff experience, considering feedback received as part of the consultation process.
