Year 3 News 18th Nov 22
Year 3 have been busy learning about Alaska as part of our Ice, Ice Baby theme. For our ‘Hook Day’ we decorated our classrooms into winter wonderlands and created art using pastels to re-create the Aurora Borealis. We have been writing an adventure story based on Alaskan animals and learning about its physical and human features. Our guided reading book is ‘Leon and the Place Between’ and we have been enjoying the magical surprises the book brings each lesson. In maths we have been adding and subtracting using mental strategies across 10 and 100 with numbers up to 999.
Last week was Anti-Bullying week and ‘England Rocks’ (Times table Rockstars) and we enjoyed an ‘Odd Socks Day’ and playing Times Table Rockstars as part of a national competition.
The week beginning 28th November we will start constructing our Ice Castles for part of our DT project this term, if you could start sending your child in with any kitchen rolls or wrapping paper rolls as mentioned in our Seesaw post before half term we can store them ready for the lesson.
