Forest School - Fire

We started looking at 'fire' as a topic in Forest School on Friday.  We started by making miniature fire lays (looking at the pros and cons of each) with cocktail sticks.  You can see in the pictures a 'login cabin' (waffle) lay, a 'lean to' and a 'teepee'.  We then walked through fire safety procedures, PPE and basic first aid for burns and scalds.  Every student managed to use fire strikers to make a spark!  Then one of students lit a teepee fire using only strikers, cotton wool and tinder.  A great session to introduce us to fire on a small-scale.
