Year 3 Sewing
A Superb Sewing Success! Parents, grandparents and aunties joined Y3 for a sunny afternoon of sewing together, inside and outside the classrooms. Inspired by European landscapes, the children had used fabric paint to create land and seascape backgrounds on calico fabric. Having studied the work of contemporary textile artists Alice Kettle and Hannah Rae, they used various colours to embroider their landscapes creating effective texture and patterns. Working mostly one to one, we finished the afternoon with tea, cake and shortbread - courtesy of Angela Zhou and the Hammond Kitchen Staff.
